The snake dwells in the dark ground, the earth on its belly. It feels like nothing is happening in the confines of its small space, but it is still growing, still shedding.  It could be a while before it sees the light at the end of the tunnel, and the time will come, but for now it knows how important it is to stay grounded.

The painting Autumn Snake is part of my Memento Mori collection, a series of artworks that remind us of our mortality. I find that in order to live an ecstatic and vibrant life, one must contemplate death. The snake reminds us to cherish what is beautiful in this life, and when I look at it, I train myself to be a little more prepared for the end. The snake also represents a grounding earthly energy, and the flow of the creative spirit. Overflowing with symbolism, Autumn Snake is a creature that will be cherished for years to come.

“Autumn Snake” is a limited edition print of 100, measuring 10” x 18”. Each print is signed, titled and numbered and includes a hand stamped edition label on the back of the artwork. Printed on archival metallic photo paper, the print and has a luminous finish and its reflective quality balances with the richness of pigment. The print and its paper were produced in the U.S., and it is packaged with acid free mat board in a crystal clear sleeve.
